Nyt on aika äänestää Staabin historian ensimmäistä vuoden fuksia! Ilmianna siis oheisella lomakkeella henkilö, joka mielestäsi täyttää alla määritellyt kriteerit ja mielestäsi ansaitsee tulla palkituksi vuoden fuksina. Huomioithan, että ohjesäännön mukaisesti äänestääksesi sinun tulee olla ensimmäisen vuoden opiskelija, kuluvan vuoden tuutori tai hallituslainen.

Staabin huomionosoitusohjesääntöä päivitettiin yhdistyksen sääntömääräisessä kevätkokouksessa 24.3.2026, ja huomionosoitusohjesääntöön lisättiin huomionosoitukseksi vuoden fuksin arvonimi. Ohjesäännön 28 § säädetän seuraavaa:

”Vuoden fuksi on vuosittain ensimmäisen vuoden opiskelijoiden keskuudesta äänestetty henkilö. Äänestykseen osallistuvat ensimmäisen vuoden opiskelijat, kuluvan lukuvuoden tuutorit, sekä yhdistyksen hallitus. Vuoden fuksi on tunnustus, joka voidaan myöntää henkilölle, joka on osoittanut poikkeuksellista aktiivisuutta, innostusta ja yhteisöllisyyttä ensimmäisen opiskeluvuotensa aikana. – – “

Vuoden fuksina voidaankin siis palkita erityisen omistautunut ensimmäisen vuoden opiskelija, joka on omalla toiminnallaan esimerkiksi edistänyt niin oman tuutorryhmänsä, kuin myös laajemmin koko yhdistyksemme yhteisöllisyyttä ja yhteishenkeä. Palkittava henkilö voi esimerkiksi olla aktiivinen ja iloinen tapahtumakävijä, joka innostaa myös kavereitaan mukaan yhteiseen toimintaan, ja ottaa toiminnassaan tasavertaisesti kaikki mukaan. Yhtälailla vuoden fuksina voidaan palkita ahkera opiskelija, joka omalla motivaatiollaan edesauttaa myös kavereidensa onnistumisia ja saavutuksia, vaikka ei kävisikään vuoden jokaisissa bileissä. Vuoden fuksi voi myös olla henkilö, joka on valmis auttamaan muita ja tarjoaa apuaan pyytämättäkin. Kenties olet nähnyt vuoden fuksin lähes jokaisessa Staabin, kuin myös Staabin ulkopuolisessakin, tapahtumassa nostattamassa yhteishenkeä, tai luomassa yhteisöllisyyttä toimistolla.

Tunnustus myönnetään äänestyksessä eniten ääniä saaneelle henkilölle, ellei yhdistyksen hallitus harkintansa tuloksena käytä ohjesäännön 29 § mukaista veto-oikeutta tilanteessa, jossa eniten ääniä saanut henkilö ei täytä tunnustukselle ominaisia kriteereitä. Tällaisessa tilanteessa tunnustus myönnetään äänestyksessä seuraavaksi sijoittuneelle. Huomioithan myös, että vuoden fuksista äänestetään ensimmäistä kertaa Staabin historiassa, joten palkitsemiskriteerit ovat vielä varsin vakiintumattomat ja väljät, sekä osittain myös tulkinnanvaraiset.

It’s time to vote for Staabi’s first-ever Freshman of the Year! Use the form linked above to nominate the person who, in your opinion, meets the criteria defined below and deserves to be awarded as the Freshman of the Year. Please note that, according to the rules*, to vote you must be a first-year student, a tutor for the current academic year, or a board member.

Staabi’s award regulation (in Fin. huomionosoitusiohjesääntö) was updated at the association’s spring meeting on 24 March 2026, adding the honorary title of Freshman of the Year as a new form of recognition. Section 28 of the regulation stipulates the following:

“Freshman of the Year is a person annually elected from among first-year students. Eligible voters include first-year students, tutors of the current academic year, and the board of the association. Freshman of the Year is an acknowledgment that may be granted to a person who has demonstrated exceptional activeness, enthusiasm, and sense of community during their first year of studies. – –”

Thus, the Freshman of the Year may be someone who has shown particular dedication during their first year, for instance by promoting the sense of community and team spirit within their own tutor group as well as more broadly within the entire association. The awarded person may be an active and cheerful event participant who inspires friends to join activities and includes everyone equally. Likewise, the award may go to a diligent student whose motivation supports the success and achievements of their peers, even if they don’t attend every party throughout the year. The Freshman of the Year can also be someone who is always ready to help others and offers support without being asked. Perhaps you have seen this person at nearly every event of Staabi, boosting team spirit and fostering community also at our office.

The recognition is granted to the person who receives the most votes, unless the board, based on its consideration, exercises the right of veto under Section 29 of the regulation in a situation where the person with the most votes does not meet the essential criteria for the award. In such a case, the recognition will be granted to the next highest-ranked nominee. Please also note that this is the first Freshman of the Year election in Staabi’s history, so the awarding criteria are still rather unestablished, broad, and partly open to interpretation.
